Choate Awarded CRP

Choate Realty Group and Real Living Lone Star Realtors proudly announce that Claude A. Choate has recently been awarded the Certified Relocation Professional designation by the Worldwide Employee Relocation Council.

The Worldwide ERC's CRP program has quickly become a symbol of professionalism and is the industry's premiere certification program. The CRP designation formally recognizes those who have mastered extensive knowledge on the principles and practices of relocation.

A major purpose of this program is the achievement of a common and universal understanding of the entire employee relocation field and recognition of those professionals who demonstrate mastery.

As of 10-1-06, only 1410 Real Estate brokers nationally hold this coveted designation.

We are proud of Mr. Choate's accomplishment, and we are pleased this achievement demonstrates our continued commitment to excellence on behalf of our clients.

Cooling Market Not Crashing

Freddie Mac's October housing report is titled "Finding Solid Ground."
While the housing market certainly cools a bit nationally, we find some comfort in this report noting the trend seems to be levelling. Also, the mortgage giant feels the likely negative impact on the economy as a whole will be neglible. Read more here: http://www.mortgagenewsdaily.com/10112006_October_Housing.asp

Hats Off to Builders in Texas

The Texas housing market continues to be strong. A quick look around DFW shows new construction of luxury highrises, high-end condo conversions and single family residential.
Is it too much? Home builders don't think so.
TheStreet.com reports builders like Centex and Ryland are experiencing growth in Texas that is helping to offset slowdowns in other areas including California and Nevada.

While higher energy prices were expected to dull the home building market overall, they seem to be fueling growth in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin.

Housing Bubble Morphs into Soft Landing

Economists and bloggers alike seem to see the housing bubble morphing into a soft landing.
For all the doom and gloom of housing sector prognosticators and talking heads last summer, general sentiment now indicates the view that residential real estate and the economy as a whole are more likely to enter a Cinderella phase. That is, not too hot, not too cold.

The following article from Matrix displays a graph of blogs mentioning either "housing bubble" or "soft landing" in their titles and a few other noteworthy links:

Matchmaking Realtors

"Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match." As a Realtor, I have had my share of clients setting me up on dates - usually unexpectedly. Occaisionally with good results.
At a dinner celebrating a recent closing, a client brought a girlfriend from the office (it was their regular girls' night anyway) who liked to cook and happened to play tennis. Oh, really, perhaps we should hit sometime.

The brother of a noted Dallas broker met his wife through a real estate transaction; my neighbor, Liz, who owns Starfish Creations, told me her sister in Austin married her Realtor! Hmm...

Often it seems to work the other way around. A good Realtor can hook you up with the perfect architect, mortgage broker or handyman. Why not Mr. or Ms. Right? Here is an interesting take on the Realtor as matchmaker dynamic:
